Cherry Weiner grew up in Australia, lived in Europe for three and a half years, and moved to the U.S.A. after marrying her husband, Jack.
Cherry has been a literary agent since 1977. She began her career as the assistant to the well-known Literary Agent, Robert P. Mills. Upon leaving, Mills’ agency, his famous clients convinced Cherry to open her own agency. This was because of her work ethic and dedication and the respect they felt for her. Shortly after leaving, Cherry was inundated with new authors and their manuscripts. She began her career handling science fiction, fantasy, and horror. As a well-known and established literary agent, she now manages authors in all genres and all sub- genres of those genres. She manages adult fiction only. Many of her well-known authors have won awards in their genre’s – which includes science fiction, fantasy, horror, mystery and romance.
Work
Cherry is the whole agency and keeps her list small so she can provide each author her undivided attention. Because of this, unless she is at a conference and speaks to an author in person, or an author comes to her with a recommendation from someone she knows, and who knows her and how she
works, she is, unfortunately not open to unsolicited queries….. most of the time. She says that she makes the rules, so she can break the rules. Therefore. she might find herself taking something on, but it has to be something that will knock her socks off…. And yes, she does wear socks. 😊
